Brain Farters Anonymous

Hi. My name is Jill and I'm embarrassed to admit that since I have been substitute teaching, I have been losing more and more brain cells every day! Those of you who know me well, know that grammar and spelling are two of my strengths. Well, the other day I was telling my mom that my lunch only "costed" two dollars! Where did that come from? The sad part is that I didn't even catch myself saying it. My mom sure had a good laugh at that one. The other story is a bit more embarrassing to share. Last week I was giving a spelling test to a group of first graders. The list included words such as "chose," "rose," and "nose." Then I came to a word that did not register in my brain..."dose." I stared at it for a while and concluded that it must be misspelled, so I decided to skip it and come back to it. I even thought about asking one of the other teachers!! All I was hearing in my head was "doze" (since the other words had the same sound) and I knew that wasn't the right word. Am I an idiot or what? Thankfully, it came to me before I really made a fool of myself! Please tell me that you have also experienced these "brain fart" moments so I don't feel quite so stupid. I'm not sure Tim will ever let me forget these :)!

ok, so mom was telling me this story (and her "UNO" story). When she was telling it and got to the "doze" part. I asked her..."Is doze even a word?" So yes we all have brainfart moments. Some of us (ME!!) more than others.
