EWWWW!!!
Ok, so I think I witnessed the nastiest thing I've ever seen during my time as a substitute teacher! This tops the time that I actually found kindergarten poop on the floor. I had fourth grade today and for science, they have been studying owls. Do any of you know what owls eat? Well, they mainly eat rodents and because they aren't able to digest the bones and fur, they regurgitate this stuff into pellets. Isn't this the most disgusting thing you've ever heard of???!!! Well, today we began to dissect own pellets, so I had 18 crazy fourth graders going nuts trying to pull apart the fur from the bones using toothpicks. I thought I was going to be sick, but as a teacher I had to act like it was pretty cool. They kept saying, "Mrs. Kerby, come here and look at all of these rat skulls!" Gross! I have the same class tomorrow and we will be finishing the dissection and then gluing the bones on cards. Can't wait for the weekend!!
